Welcome

Well, I have another sinus infection, love that family trait. It doesn't seem to be a bad one, but I'll have to watch it close since we leave for Jamaica next Saturday. I'm looking forward to the trip, but I have a lot to do before we are ready.

The boys are doing pretty well, but Makiah had a sinus infection last week that he is just now getting over. He had his 5 year check-up on Friday, which he didn't enjoy. He had to have blood taken, poke on the finger, and 2 shots. Marcy and I held him down for the shots. He actually did pretty well considering he is a bit of an over reactor. I told him we could stop and get some Iowa sweet corn, his favorite, for supper. That made the recovery time a little shorter. The doctor says he looks fine and the blood test looked good. The Dr. is a bit of a spaz, but he sounds like he really knows his stuff, or he is totally bullshitting me, which would be easy since I know nothing medical.

Mason, Max and Marcy are doing well. Marcy ran a 5K this morning. Did I, you ask? Not a chance in hell. Unless someone is chasing me, or maybe there is a really good dinner at the end, I'm not running. If I do run, it won't be for more than a few hundred feet, since that is when I would collapse from exhaustion and maybe die. I really need to get into shape, but the motivation just isn't there.

I had mentioned that I'm trying to win a house, well today is the deadline to enter, so we will see. I really don't expect to win by any means, but I thought the contest was pretty neat, so I entered. The owners of the house bought it for $5000 and were going to comute to work. The house is in between Sioux City, Iowa and Omaha, Nebraska. The husband worked in Omaha, the wife in SC. The wife got a job in Omaha, so they wanted to move there. They tried to sell the house, but because it was in a small town in the middle of knowhere, they didn't have any luck. They decided to have an essay contest to give the house away. It cost $5 to enter and I had to write a 200 word essay on what I would do with the house. I didn't realize it would be so hard to only write 200 words. I could have written 500 easy. Basically, I said I would like to rent the house to a single mom with kids, its a 3 bedroom. Since I would have no mortgage payment, I could rent it fairly cheap. I would put some of the rent money in an account for the woman to use as a down payment to buy the house later. Part of the rent would be in an account for taxes and repairs and the rest would go into a scholarship account at my church to send people on mission trips that can't afford to go. I know how much my missions have meant to me and would love for people to go who can't afford to go. The missions through my church aren't that expensive, but some people live on a very narrow budget, me being one of them, so any little help they can get makes a difference. I'm sure someone submitted a much better plan, like maybe a singel mom herself, but I thought I would throw it out there. If you want to see the website, I'm not sure how long it will be up, but here it is:

Well, I'm done for now, I'll have pictures from Jamaica soon.
